Sign Designer / Design Coordinator
Are you proficient in dimensional and graphic sign design, familiar with the sign-making process from survey to install, and looking use your design skills in a broader scope of shop operations? Do you thrive under the challenge of coordinating every detail to support successful outcomes?
The design coordinator plays an instrumental role in the pre-production phase of our custom sign process. In this position, you will manage the development of sign designs in response to the many existing requirements: customer needs, zoning codes, installation constraints, materials and manufacturability, cost efficiency, safety, and more. You'll work with account executives to generate conceptual designs for customers and further develop those designs into technical structural and graphic fabrication plans for production teams. You will create or approve accurate digital files for output to machines.
Firm grasp of sign (or other custom metal) fabrication processes: materials, methods, equipment and hardware.
Ability to design structural and graphic elements to correctly fit all constraints.

Daily mix of project design/detail management and hands-on fabrication.
Quality Assurance at all stages of sign production.
Consult with all departments for project detail coordination.
Understand the overall intent for each sign, and guide all contributing factors to ensure that fabrication and installation decisions and processes support best outcome.
Develop technical sign fabrication plans that fit manufacturing and end-environment constraints.
Analyze elevation drawings and site surveys to confirm feasibility of designs and correct sizing and placement of signs.
Designate materials and methods for sign fabrication with appropriate feasibility, safety, aesthetics, durability, and time/cost efficiency in mind.
Determine materials and methods for sign installation. Ensure correct methods are chosen for unquestioningly safe sign install.
Formulate material orders and communicate to the purchasing department.
Plan and implement fabrication schedule in consultation with general management and team.
Investigate new trends and technologies in the signage industry.
Employee safety and training in fabrication department.

- All aspects of metal (aluminum and steel) fabrication, materials, extrusions, tools (shears, brakes, saws), and processes.

This job is physically demanding and requires strength and manual dexterity for the lifting, balancing, climbing and other duties involved.
You must be able to:
