Project Detail and Design Management

Coordinate with Account Representatives and Fabrication Department on sign designs and related project management details.

Understand final intent for signs and ensure that all processes and decisions support the desired outcome.

Analyze elevation drawings and site surveys to ensure signs’ structural designs, sizing and placement are feasible and correct.

Create or advise on conceptual sign design drawings.

Create or advise on technical shop drawings with input from Fabrication Department.

Set up design files for output (Printer, Plotter, Router).

Confirm accuracy of all graphic file setup before release to production.

Required Skills:

Knowledge of sign fabrication materials and manufacturing methods in order to make informed decisions on design and feasibility.

Metal Fabrication Department

Lead Fabricator 

In addition to hands-on fabrication, the primary responsibility of this position will be to advise on technical fabrication designs and to manage project details as they relate to the fabrication and installation of signs. Responsibilities:

Daily mix of project design/detail management and hands-on fabrication.

Quality Assurance at all stages of sign production.

Consult with all departments for project detail coordination.

Understand the overall intent for each sign, and guide all contributing factors to ensure that fabrication and installation decisions and processes support best outcome.

Develop technical sign fabrication plans that fit manufacturing and end-environment constraints.

  • All aspects of metal (aluminum and steel) fabrication, materials, extrusions, tools (shears, brakes, saws), and processes.

  • Electrical wiring and UL requirements.
  • Concrete foundations/footings.
  • Blueprint/engineering drawing/ elevation reading.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building construction elements and how they impact installation methods.

Ability to take responsibility for problem-solving and decision-making with the experience to back it up.

This job is physically demanding and requires strength and manual dexterity for the lifting, balancing, climbing and other duties involved.

You must be able to:

Put safety as a highest priority as you perform all activities

Travel and work “on the road” all day, with some overtime and irregular hours (Very infrequent overnights.)

Work outside year-round in all kinds of weather. 

Lift heavy objects, 80 pounds.

Work at heights on ariel lifts, sometimes staging.

Work in confined spaces.

Communicate with management team and analyze work orders, plans, drawings and specifications to determine correct procedure for installation.

Troubleshoot and repair problems with electrical components or digital message centers on-site.   

Quality control assessment throughout scope of work.

Operate aerial personnel lifts and cranes.

Use tools, hand and power.

Dig holes using tools and equipment. Work with cement.

Report outcomes to supervisor.

Use proper load securement techniques when loading trucks.

Keep required driver documentation including logbooks, inspection reports.
